Interesting Turkish Ottoman Naval sword from mid of 19 Century. The German style nickel plated blade is 28 inches long and has no markings. Brass folding hilt has nicely chiseled Ottoman Crest on the face. Pommel is also brass and it is also nicely chiseled. The handle is from some silver alloy and it has nice brass twisted wire wrapped around. Black leather scabbard with chiseled brass fittings and two hanging rings. Attached, original Turkish Navy gold bullion porteppe.
Condition: excellent blade with all nickel remaining. Excellent hilt, guard and pommel. Grip is perfect and the wire wrap very tight. Scabbard leather in excellent condition with excellent brass fitting on top and few small dents to the bottom one. Portepee is solid and looks like was never detached from sword.
Beautiful and very scarce Turkish Naval Sword, would be a gem in any collection.
