This is a beautiful German Merchant Navy Officer's sword from the period between the Wars, made by E & F Horster. I would date this sword around 1930. The blade, triple engraved with Navy motifs in near excellent condition. There is no lifting, bubbling or pitting to the finish. The solid brass hilt with lion's head, having a fore and aft eyes ( red and green), has excellent detail. The white celluloid grip retains the double strand wrap and has no chips or cracks. The leather scabbard with brass fittings and double swivel rings also in near excellent condition for it's age. The leather is actually quite remarkable.
Great Sword in near excellent condition overall.
