Beautiful Hungarian sword from mid of 19 century, probably used by a general or a very high ranking official. Similar to "Juristic" swords of this period, but much more elaborate with all metal on hilt, crossguard and scabbard gold gilded. Sharp, combat blade is 34 inches long and 1.25 wide. Grip has mother of pearl panels on both sides and gilded Lion head on top. Gilded crossguard has beautiful Hungarian Crest on front. Wooden, damask covered scabbard with gold gilded and beautifully engraved rest of the metal parts.
Condition: excellent for its age. Shiny blade with no rust or pitting just couple of darker spots. All metal on hilt, crosguard and scabbard retains almost all gold gild. Damask on the scabbard is probably best original I've seen.
This is a Museum quality sword. An almost identical one is presented in Hungarian book "Kardok" (Swords) by Jozsef Lugosi and Ferenc Temesvary item 228 as "General Perczel" decoration sabre.
