Sword of Austrian high ranking officials and "k.k." professors pattern 1880. This is a special sword presented to the recipient on the occasion of "Emperor Franz Josef I" 50th anniversary (1848-1898) as a ruler of Austro-Hungary. Sword was presented with special Anniversary Medal "Signum Memorial MDCCCXLVIII - MDCCCXCVIII". The blade was made by: "Hugo Weyersberg &Sohn Solingen" and the sword finished by: "W. Kralka Linz" as marked on both sides on ricasso. Blade is single edged with fuller on both sides and central point. Beautifully etched decoration with panoply of arms, "FJI" under Imperial Crown and Imperial Double Headed Eagle with Crest on his chest. The other side has also panoply of arms and nicely engraved profile of Franz Josef I. On ricasso there is a date "1848 -1898". Brass basket hilt with leaf relief and Austrian Coat of Arms and pommel in the same style. Wooden, shark skin covered grip with triple bras wire wrapping. Wooden scabbard covered with black leather. Brass mouthpiece with tie and scabbard loop. All brass, the hilt, pommel and scabbard fitting heavily gilded in gold. There is a green porteppe on the hilt and sword hanger attached to the scabbard.
Condition: everything is excellent and impossible to upgrade. Sword is 120 years old but it is a beauty - see photos.
