Wonderful Austro-Hungarian Hussar Officer's sword M-1837. Polished steel single edged, strongly curved blade with fuller on both sides and back point. Blade is beautifully etched on both sides with panoply of arms and flora. No maker name. Iron hilt with strip vaulted basket and flat crossguard. Wooden grip covered with fish skin and originally strengthened with wire which is long gone. Iron scabbard with two scabbard loops. There is a beautiful yellow braided portepee attached to the hilt. portepee has "Imperial Eagle" on one side and "FJ I" on the other.
Condition: excellent. Shiny blade with no rust or pitting. All etching in perfect beautiful condition. Solid hilt, guard and pommel turning to nice patina. Fish skin grip in very good condition but the wire is missing. Portepee in excellent condition.
Beautiful sword for any collection - will be hard to upgrade.
