DESCRIPTION: Very good quality 19th Century Turkish rifled musket with miquelet style lock. Caliber: 18 mm. The miquelet lock is beautifully decorated with silver inlays. The hammer shows a silver inlaid date, "1222" (1844 AD). Nine silver barrel bands. Good quality octagonal barrel. The musket has classic old Turkish style rear sight. Elaborately silver decorated hardwood "tiger stripes" pattern stock. Classic two piece buttstock with no buttplate. The buttstock displays very nice floral style silver plates. The same style of decoration is present around the trigger, the miquelet lock and around the counter screws. The barrel tang is covered with silver sheets decorated with two stars of David. Two sling swivels in the Turkish style sling holes. Complete with an iron ramrod. Overall length: 49.25 inch. Barrel length: 36.25 inch. CONDITION: Overall, the musket is in fine condition. Some losses of decorative elements on the stock. The stock has some dings/scratches and some age hairline cracks, mainly along the barrel lines. The forestock has a "Duffel bag" style cut, or perhaps it was manufactured from two pieces of wood (please, see pictures). The barrel is covered with a layer of light patina (uncleaned). No pitting.
