Nice Belgian double barrel shotgun by Raick Brothers in Liege. Caliber: 2 x 16 gauge. Raick Brothers were Belgian gunmakers, who operated from 1807 to around 1950. The maker address is engraved on the barrels' rib, "Raick Freres Liege - Canons Acier Krupp". The barrels also display following markings, "Assemblage A Bloc", "Brevette No. 63897" and "Acier Anglais". The shotgun features 27.75 inch long Krupp manufactured barrels. The rib is matted on its entire length. Full engraving with hunting scenes and/or floral style decor (breech, tang, hammers, trigger guard, etc.). Walnut half stock with hardened rubber buttplate showing some hunting scenes, as well. There is a cheek-piece on the left side of the buttstock. Diamond checkering at the wrist of the stock, as well as in the front part of the stock. Steel trigger guard. Several Belgian proof marks and other markings are present on the barrels under the stock (Crown over ELG over Star (in an oval), 12C (in a diamond), Star over AD, HJ, EL (stylish, entwined), Choke 17.2/18.1, etc.). Two sling swivels. Overall length is 44.5 inch. The barrels length is 27.75 inch. CONDITION: Fine. 85% of blue finish is still on metal. Some finish is turning to gray color. The engraving on metal is beautifully preserved. Excellent bores. No dents in tubes. The hammers are in great shape. Strong and smooth action. Mechanically the gun is in fine condition, as well. All the internal parts of the shotgun are in fine condition, with no visible wear. The stock shows minor handling marks and light dings. The checkering is slightly worn. There is a small chip to the lower part of the hardened rubber buttplate (please, see pictures). All the markings on metal are also nicely preserved. Nice Belgian double barrel shotgun! Antique.
