Very scarce Imperial Russian single shot breech loading Krnka M.1857/1867 rifle! This is basically a breech loading conversion of the Imperial Russian muzzle loading percussion musket M.1857. Designed in early 1850-s by a Czech inventor Sylvestr Krnka, the system provided a simple and inexpensive way of converting old muzzle loading percussion muskets to more advanced breech loading rifle. Most of the conversion works were done by the Imperial Tula Arsenal, some may have been subcontracted to smaller private enterprises. The rifle was adopted as a service weapon by Russia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria and later, by Afghanistan. It was used in large numbers during the Russo-Turkish War, Balkan Wars, Russo-Japanese War and even in World War One! CONDITION: Overall, in NRA antique poor condition. The rifle needs to be professionally restored. It is a good project for a long winter! The hammer is not original and it does not engage the firing pin. The cleaning rod/ramrod present. Stock has a couple of cracks and chips. Barrel dark. Very scarce Imperial Russian single shot breech loading Krnka M.1857/1867 rifle! Antique.
