Polish Wz28 Type I Helmet with ventilation crest. This is a very late example with rolled rim and chrome plating. Helmets of this type were made with or without ventilation crest on the top. Initially Polish Army planned to purchase 50,000 of those helmets but production never went beyond initial first delivery. After accepting Wz.31 helmet for the Army, Wz.28 was issued to OPL (Air Defense) units. Those helmets can be recognized by thick leather strap inside protecting user head from collapsed debris. The helmet offered for sale doesn't have the leather strap and the liner is made of nice quality leather so it was probably designated to use on military parades or on special occasions. Back inside rim has a plate reading: "Ludwikow, Kielce 1939". Condition: near excellent, no dents or damage to the metal, nice smooth chrome finish with no damage anywhere. Leather liner has couple of tears otherwise very good. Leather chin strap without any damage. Interesting part of Polish history.
