A very nice example of a Royal Hungarian Nav Dress Dagger, complete with the original brass scabbard. These were carried during ceremonial occasions and were not intended for combat. The dagger has a "Sailor's Not" style helmet pommel, ribbed ivory like grip, and brass crossguard featuring the Hungarian Coat of Arms. The hilt has a scabbard release button on the opposite side from the guard. The 11 ¼" blade has a "gold" inlay of the Hungarian Coat of Arms and an anchor insignia on the opposite. Lower down on the blade towards the tip, there is a title, name: "Banholmi Laszlo kapitany urnak" and a 1932 date. The scabbard is the standard type seen, made of lacquered polished brass. It has the Naval Anchor insignia embossed on the top with an image of Zeus holding a trident at the bottom towards the drag. Condition: very good, with the expected wear of age. A seldom seen dagger, ready to add to your collection!
